Apps Tips

1. Nearly every student older than age 8 has a smart phone, and they get to use them! How exciting!
2. Students are already using Apps on their phones so they are familiar with them.
3. Many apps are FREE!!! or are CHEAP!!!
4. Apps are easily downloadable on your phone or computer.
5. Apps can be interactive.
6. Educational Apps
7. Food logging Exercise Apps.
8. Classroom behavior reward and punishment Apps
9. Historical maps App
10. Satellite telescope star gazing Apps available
11. Flashcard Apps

Web Quest Tips

1. Great for Substitute days; keep kids engaged and learning on their own.
2. Try to avoid making them just busy work. Ask really engaging and relevant questions.
3. Teach them how to navigate the internet well: what sites are credible, and which ones are not?
4. Partner work
5. Videos on YouTube are great to watch and reflect on
6. Virtual world
7. Relating to students
8. Discover good resources for their own use.
9. Learn how to explore on their own.
10. Can use to learn about opposing views.

Video Tips

1. Personal video to get to know each other
2. Use iMovie
3. Use Movie Maker
4. Perform a scene from the book and video it (English Class)
5. Can use Music in the video
6. Can put captions or credits at the end of videos and manipulate transitions, and use effects.
7. Book Trailer after reading the book
8. For younger kids, video their favorite pet or animal
9. Video helps represent a different perspective, possibly feel something more (emotional connection/living through it/experience/empathy).
10. Community building or connecting/communicating with others, because movies are meant to be shared.



11. Get more facts across in a short amount of time. Discussion afterwards, maybe give a graphic organizer before for them to write down the facts.
12. Videos can be very attention grabbing.
13. Students NEED TO KNOW HOW TO USE TECHNOLOGY. Every two years technology is updated. Learn how to use and learn new technology.
