Assisted Technologies (Blog #5)

The Utah Center for Assistive Technology website

is a great resource to find out what are the latest developments in technology assistant devices, what events are being hosted to spread the word and teach people how to use assistive technology, and services that are provided. This is great for a parent of a child with a disability or an educator who is looking for technological assistive devices to aid in the education of those with disabilities.

1) Services link.  They can customize, build or design an assistive device or give information about or refer other products. They also have information on workshops and any questions you may have dealing with assistive technologies.
2)The Utah Assistive Technology Program UATP is a non-profit serving individuals with disabilities of all ages in Utah. They provide assistive technology devices and services, and train university students, parents, children with disabilities and professional service providers about AT. Their goal is to increase independence and quality of life for people with disabilities. The stories shared on the blog are inspirational and the site itself has many links that educators and parents may find useful.
3) The Utah Parent Center is also a great resource for parents of children with needs because they provide support, resources, and the latest on news, events, and updates. The resources are varied between instructional videos, webinars, and podcasts to handbooks and information sheets.

I will definitely be using these sources in the future if need be for a student with special needs and reccommend these sights to the parents if they don't know about them already.
